I'm an artist printmaker based in Wiltshire and I make small, limited edition prints and books in my garden studio. All my work is original, the matrix is designed and made by me and each one is hand printed.
Currently I'm studying for an MA in printmaking at UWE, Bristol. I received my BA (Hons) Textiles from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design, Farnham, in the 1990's.
I organise art projects for schools and health care groups, for a wide range of ages and abilities. I run workshops in printmaking and bookbinding for small groups of individuals and I've also worked in a voluntary capacity with Big Arts Week, organising print workshops with children in Primary school education.
The landscape is an important influence on my work and I spend a lot of time walking in and looking at the countryside. By focusing on the landscape, I work in direct response to what my eye sees and my brain mulls over and interprets.
To maintain an ongoing exploration of ideas and develop new work, I make sequential images where I record my observations from walking trips, through the medium of printmaking and artist books.
Printing is the medium by which printmakers make their images. It is how we express our ideas and visual understanding.
When I make a print the blocks are inked up, using light fast, oil based inks and
applied with a roller to the surface of the block. Paper is then placed on the block and pressure applied by hand or by printing press to transfer the ink from the block to the paper.
This isn't the same as mass produced reproductions which use scanning technology to copy work, producing numerous, digitally reproduced, identical copies for sale as limited edition prints.
All work shown is available for sale; please contact me for details if you'd like more information about my work.
